The Damn Colombian Hypocrisy

Finally the IV Summit of the Americas has finished but as usual the Colombian people are just interested in the stupidest things of the event. This time the victim was our super hero Shakira, who is so loved in the rest of the world, but in her own country not so much.  

The most important artist in the Colombian history made a small mistake; during the Summit, Shakira started to sing the Colombian Anthem a capella(that I really recommend to my friends). In the middle of the song, Shakira sang wrong just a small word and BUM! Waves of pictures, messages and videos on youtube, twitter, facebook and even in my Blackberry mocking just for the stupidest thing ever.

Rather than say “SUBLIME”, she said “DE UBLIME”.

Come on!

 What is wrong with you people?

 Not even my British friends take an advantage when I say something worse in English!

 Shakira is one of the most famous artists around the world, due to her talent, the Colombian popularity in Europe, Asia and Africa is not just based on as drug dealers. She is cleaning the awful reputation that we have. On the other hand she is doing a lot for the Colombian education; she created a foundation to educate small kids, and actually she went to the Summit to debate about the future of the Colombian childhood according to the education. She invited all the assistants to invest in the Colombian education. How in God’s name you can criticize somebody who is doing a lot for your country?

I’m very sure that in other countries the people respect more their artist, not like in Colombia. We don’t have many stars on the sky, but now when we have one, we are just trying to take it down.
